Bluebonnet Family Medicine Health and Wellness would like to welcome Dr. Thomas J. Purgason, M.D., FACP to our team.

Dr. Thomas J. Purgason, M.D., FACP, is a board-certified internist with over four decades of experience in solo practice in Arlington, Texas. A graduate of UT Austin and UTMB Galveston, he completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma and has held numerous leadership roles at Medical City Arlington, including Chief of Staff and Board of Trustees member. A Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Purgason has served as President of the UTMB School of Medicine Alumni Association Board and remains active in UTMB’s Development Board and Chancellor’s Council.
He is deeply committed to education, mentoring medical students and serving as an adjunct professor and clinical preceptor for multiple universities. Recognized for his contributions to medicine and community health, he received the prestigious Ashbel Smith Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2025.
